MICHELLE MITCHELL



               Michelle Mitchell

      Crafting something beautiful with one's hands runs in Michelle's family:  Her father works in leather and her son in wood.  Michelle's own love affair with hand crafting began with fabric and sewing in seventh grade home economics.  When she discovered quilting in 1979, all other hobbies fell by the wayside.
      In the early 1980's, the study of interior design helped refine her design and color awareness, and she began combining quilting with wearable art and exhibiting her creations at boutiques and craft fairs.  In recent years  she has taught at numerous quilt shops and guilds and is a multiple award winner, most recently of the Design Excellence Award at the AQS/Hobbs Bonded Fiber Fashion Show.  She now brings her talents to our family at Universal Sewing Center.
